Become a Region Ambassador!

A message from REGION NORTH

Greetings Region North Families.

Los Angeles Unified is initiating three engagement pathways hosted with regional offices specifically for families to serve as ambassadors for their students and school communities.

This effort is designed to fulfill a commitment outlined within the Los Angeles Unified Strategic Plan of honoring perspectives. Beginning in Fall 2023, the pathways for ambassadors will be centered on Students with Special Needs, English Learners (Emerging Bilinguals), and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Ambassadors will participate in three training sessions with District and Region level experts for each Ambassador pathway. Each Region meeting will be hybrid, in-person and online to accommodate family schedules. All families may attend as many segments as they like. There is no requirement on the number of sessions you attend.

Three Region Ambassador Pathways:

Special Education Region Ambassadors will focus their learning in the areas of:

  • Supporting Your Child’s Educational Transition: Life Beyond High School.
  • Leading and Supporting English Language Learners with Disabilities Toward Reclassification .
  • Understanding Development and Early Intervention.

English Learner Region Ambassadors will focus their learning in the areas of:

  • Instructional program placement, reclassification criteria, English Learner academic journey, and family empowerment.

Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Ambassadors will focus their learning in the areas of:

  • The District’s goals, actions, services, and expenditures of state funds as outlined in the District’s LCAP to support positive student outcomes and close student equity gaps.
